Writer seeks audience

Right... Great... Here I am. A few years late and I've finally entered the 21st century. I've got myself a blog. Which, of course, beckons the question of what I'm going to do with it.
What I'm aiming for is to chronicle my... efforts? Struggle? Wishful thinking? I'm not sure... to become a proper published fiction writer.
Cliched though it is, I've been a writer from pretty much as soon as I could scribble with a pencil or crayon. Even before that I was a storyteller, even recording early efforts on an old black cassette player (as my mum will testify, taping over some of her folk music.)
What I dream of doing is getting recognition for it - my ultimate dream is to hold my own copy of my published (not vanity published) novel in my hands and think 'I did that'.
I write horror tinged with fantasy, but with a firm realistic grounding. A lot of my characters have turned out to be gay, I'm not sure why: I write what they tell me about themselves. So... gay horror soap operas? Hey, it could work...
I'm currently finalising a novel packed with ghosts, demons, devils and angels, and I'm also trying to keep to my goal of entering all the creative writing competitions going - that's a minimum of two short stories a month. It's tough going, but so far I'm really enjoying it (although of course it is only January).
To keep myself busy, I'm also working on a script for an animation with my extremely talented friend Tom. I can't say too much about it now, but it's a comedy drama, and it's not like anything I've ever worked on before. But I have high hopes for this project, and am honoured to work with someone as talented, and modest, as Tom.

I hope to update this blog regularly and will get some examples of my writing up soon. Right now, though, I'm getting ready to see my hero, Morrissey, who coincidentally seems to feature in a lot of my writing too.

Hello my little bunnikins

Glad that at least one of us has embraced the 21st century! Here's hoping that this at long last brings you the recognition you deserve.
